Expect miracles

I am going to live rather than die
To recover rather than receed
To rest and rejuvenate without guilt and loss
To take it easy on good days despite my urge to run and play and dance and do
To cry without going to the bottom again
To know my symptoms are messages from a brain that is working like hell to fix itself
To see myself well and strong again
To know,  without a shadow of doubt, that I will make a full recovery.
To love myself unconditionally through this to the other side.

  1. Hi Joanne,

I am also struggling with post concussion syndrome. My injury was in August of 2015. My aunt sent me the link to your blog. It’s great! I also love traveling and dream about my next trip!! (When is the big question)

I live in Halifax and have been wading my way through the muddy waters of the health care system here for head injuries…both private and public. I’m also off work and have the daily struggle of keeping myself together and not overdoing it.

I started a facebook group for people to share resources and connections and meet up and chat. I’ve met a few people locally and found out about programs that I didn’t even know existed. You really have to be your own advocate that’s for sure. The group is small so far….but maybe you’d like to join us? 🙂 It’s call the Halifax Concussion Community.

I only read a few of your posts but saw that you mentioned vision issues. I’m a month in with vision therapy with two pairs of prism glasses and working with a physio for vestibular rehab. I was losing hope after a year and this has really brought me back to thinking that I WILL be able to do the things I used to be able to do again. I went to Bedford Eye Care to see a neuro optometrist and I felt a change in my balance right away. From what I understand, it’s kind of a newer treatment option for post traumatic vision syndrome. And I guess a lot of people with persistent PCS also have this going on. Maybe it’s something to check out if you haven’t already.

Anyway, hope you will join the group!

    • Hello Kelly,
Sorry for the late reply. I just got this message. I’ll definitely check out your Facebook group. Thanks for reaching out and sharing your story. How did you get an appointment with a neuro optometrist? Where do you go for vision therapy?
